Surprisingly, I may have practiced a version of #4 without knowing it! My phenomenal great-aunt Molly, may she rest in peace, who spent the first 85 years of her life in Brooklyn, mostly without A/C, told me to wash my wrists and head with ice-cold water to cool down on hot days. She explained it cooled the blood quickly because vessels there were close to the skin. But maybe we did Mammalian Diving without knowing it…
