She had deep blue eyes and long, straight light brown hair. Tall and svelte, even with dark circles under her eye – a hottie. She was sitting on a picnic blanket with an acquaintance of mine, and I used that to introduce myself. I didn’t wait long, and dove in with my pickup line: “How old is your baby?”

She was just 3 days older than mine… 3 days! A match made in heaven.

I instantly hit it off with that gorgeous young mom. We had so much in common. Love at first sight! 15 years later, we’re still close friends. But when we met, and for the first few years, it was magical, because we were going through the throes of first-time parenting at exactly the same pace.

We cared about the same things:

  1. Putting babies to sleep
  2. Projectile vomiting
  3. How to get more sleep

I’m just kidding. The vomiting wasn’t really an issue. (Well, not until baby #3, the gastric reflux one! Ugh.)

Do you have relationships that are so well-synched that they feel effortless?

I’m very proud of mine, and oddly, I now have such a delightful relationship with a software company. What??

But seriously, I do. Let me tell you how this affair began.

In fact, if you’re reading this, you’ve probably taken my quiz about burnout and overwhelm. I love quizzes, and right now I’m working on a new one, called The Mess Matrix (MM). The MM explains how different organization habits of members of your household affect your wellbeing. (Hint: not well. I can’t wait to share it with you once it’s ready!)

But the reason I got into quizzes in the first place, is that I fell in love with a quiz building platform… (“This chick has odd love interests” you must be thinking.) But what can I say? I’m a sucker for quizzes, especially if they’re quick and fun and teach me a new little insight.

I had taken some really beautiful quizzes that were all built on a platform called Interact, so I started reading up on them. I decided to create my first quiz and loved it! So many great features. But don’t worry, this won’t turn into a long instructive how-to post teaching you about quiz building. Because (a) there are plenty of sites who do this very well, (b) Interact’s own blog posts on how to put together a great quiz are detailed and instructive, (c) you can take a course with them, and (d) then there’s The Quiz Collective. The Collective is an amazing circle of experts and quiz builders like you. Ask anything in the community and get personal answers from ninjas who take your quiz and tell you exactly how to improve it.

The reason I like this product is that Interact cares about what I care about:

  1. Make things fun and easy
  2. Spend time with great people
  3. Don’t be a jerk

Fun and easy

  • The software is beautifully designed, both in terms of its user interface and the user experience. It is self-explanatory and enjoyable to use.
  • To streamline one of the time consuming elements of quiz building – Interact connects free images via Unsplash and gifs, and offers easy attribution options.
  • Connecting to email platforms and publishing your quiz on social media is literally as easy as clicking a button. You don’t need to be techy in order to do this well.

Great people

Not only is the software itself user-friendly and feature-rich, but the company behind it is the most supportive I’ve ever encountered! I’ve gotten excellent customer service before (hi, MailChimp!) but this is something else.

The Quiz Collective community offers weekly content, office hours, and an online forum for Q&A. You can check out other people’s quizzes for inspiration, and ask for feedback on your own. Every time I bring my quiz questions to office hours, the responses I get from the Interact staff and my fellow quiz makers save me weeks of rewriting and procrastinating. Everyone that is part of the community, both workers and customers, are so nice! I’m especially happy about recent efforts of offer more Euro-friendly sessions. It’s so nice to be seen!

Don’t be a jerk

My favorite features here are:

  • “Skip this step” button at the end of the quiz allows takers to receive their results without providing their name and email address. I LOVE this. I really respect having this choice when I take quizzes, and am thrilled to offer it myself.
  • There’s a free 14-day trial, which is enough time to create a full quiz and see its results! Check out this tutorial for creating your quiz in 5 days.
  • The experts and the community can help you in anything from brainstorming titles and questions, helping with results pages and your choice of images. I highly recommend that you lean into that wealth of knowledge. They are not about selling you anything, just about ensuring your succes.

Finally! A company where “customer-centered” is more than a cliche motto, but a true way of doing business!

SO, if you’ve ever considered writing your own quiz, you should definitely try Interact. Note that the links here are affiliate links, which means that if you use them to sign up for a paid subscription, I get a little kickback. But I’d recommend Interact without any incentive, because they are truly my favorite company EVA!! (Even though their experts are useless when it comes to projectile vomiting…)

PS – If you’re curious about the Mess Matrix, tell me one (dis)organizational habit of a household member that drives you nuts!!! Nuts as in homicidal. “Leave that sock in the living room one more time and I’ll stuff it down your throat” kind of nuts…. Know what I mean? Comment/reply and tell me! Tell me!
